Summary
The Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) specification has joined the Apache Incubator and officially been renamed Apache Ossie (Incubating). While the underlying standard for semantic layers and ontologies remains unchanged, the transition establishes vendor-neutral Apache Software Foundation governance to standardize business metrics and dimensions across data platforms and AI agents.

dbt now supports Amazon Redshift data sharing — and your pipelines just got a lot faster
dbt now supports Amazon Redshift data sharing, allowing teams to run faster pipelines without copying data. This new integration enables practitioners to write across databases while cleanly isolating development and CI environments.
With dbt State, stop rebuilding what didn't change
Now in general availability, dbt State tracks compiled logic and upstream data freshness to automatically reuse previous build results instead of rebuilding unchanged models. By eliminating redundant model runs and tests across scheduled pipelines, the feature significantly reduces warehouse compute costs and accelerates job runtimes.
Context engineering is already possible in your warehouse. Here's how to get started.
Context engineering extends traditional BI data modeling to AI agents, starting with semantic search directly inside your warehouse. Learn how to get started applying these context modeling techniques within your existing warehouse environment.
Fivetran + dbt Labs Announces New Capabilities to Make Enterprise Data Agent-Ready at dbt Summit 2026
Fivetran and dbt Labs used dbt Summit 2026 to announce GA for dbt v2 and dbt State, alongside new capabilities including the Fivetran Context Layer, dbt Charts, and a broader open lakehouse vision. Together the releases push toward making enterprise data agent-ready, giving Databricks practitioners new tooling for orchestration, state management, and visualization within the lakehouse.
Everything we announced at dbt Summit and why it matters
Databricks unveiled its full dbt Summit lineup, including dbt v2, dbt State, dbt Wizard, and dbt Charts. This roundup breaks down what each product does and the specific problem it solves for teams building on dbt.
We built dbt State to stop rebuilding what hadn't changed
dbt State is now generally available across every environment where you run dbt, letting teams skip rebuilding models that haven't changed since the last run. The result is lower compute spend and faster iteration cycles during development.
