Automatic Upgrades

Databricks automatically turns on recommended, generally available features such as Checkpoint V2, row tracking, catalog commits and Parquet v2 on Unity Catalog managed tables, without code changes or ALTER TABLE statements. It watches how each table is accessed and turns a feature on only after verifying that the workloads using it are compatible, while automatic liquid clustering is added to new tables only. Upgrades for some features, such as column mapping and catalog commits in existing schemas, are still in Public Preview and need enrollment.
