dbt-databricks 1.13.0 merged tblproperties additively and changed how view models are materialized

The main release of October 2026 was v1.13.0, published on October 29. It added additive merging of `tblproperties` across config levels and opt-in invocation telemetry. It also carried a breaking change for some view models: views now use a single materialization regardless of `use_materialization_v2`, so `view_update_via_alter` alters Unity Catalog views in place and fails on Hive metastore views [2]. Teams that manage views on the Hive metastore had reason to check their configuration before upgrading.

The 1.12 line received three patch releases earlier in the month. Version 1.12.6, on October 1, added workload identity federation authentication through environment and file-based OIDC profile configurations. It also fixed grant reconciliation crashes and improved tag preservation and automatic refresh behavior for materialized views and streaming tables [6]. Version 1.12.7, on October 12, stopped session closure from holding the connection manager lock, which had caused concurrent query stalls and premature cluster auto-terminations mid-run. It also made incremental runs handle primary and foreign key constraints deterministically, which removed drop-and-recreate churn, duplicate constraint errors, and AWS view replacement failures [5]. Version 1.12.8, on October 24, raised the minimum `certifi` version to 2026.10.23 to pick up a security fix in its CA certificate bundle. That was the only change in the release [3].

On the announcement side, a Databricks post on October 19 argued for running a whole pipeline inside one dbt project, from streaming ingestion to governed metric definitions. It described orchestrating natively with Lakeflow Jobs and enforcing Unity Catalog access rules from dbt project configurations [4].

In the community, a post on October 30 asked whether dbt snapshots on Databricks handle files that arrive out of order [1]. The title framed it as an open question, and the month ended without a settled answer in the items covered here.
