Lakebase added Search, bulk loading up to 147x faster, branch-based restores and Agent Memory in October 2026

October's Lakebase news centered on database branching and faster data movement. Branch-based restores were introduced as a metadata operation that points to immutable history in decoupled storage, cutting recovery of a 100 TB database to seconds [51]. Bulk loading moved to Spark under the LTAP architecture, which builds pages and indexes in parallel and loads terabytes up to 147x faster without taking resources from live OLTP queries [47]. Lakebase Search added vector and text extensions for hybrid retrieval inside Postgres [8][29], and a sizing guide reported that matching the Local File Cache to the vector index kept up to 98% of pages in memory on a 4 million passage app [33].

Agents were the second theme. Agent Memory entered Beta on Agent Bricks with a Lakebase-backed store [20][22]. Databricks published a workflow pairing Claude Code, Git worktrees and GitHub Actions with a Lakebase branch per coding agent [46][52].
