Your Databricks certifications and badges belong to an email address, not to an employer. Databricks' Help Center puts it in one sentence: badges and certificates "are issued through Accredible and tied to the exact email address used for your exam or course." If that address is a work inbox you are about to hand back, move the credentials to one you will keep before your last day: the move goes through a Databricks support ticket, and the ticket asks whether you still have access to the old address.

Key facts

  • The wallet is the email. Sign in to Accredible with an address that holds no credentials and you get a new, empty wallet.
  • Only Databricks, as issuer, can change the email on a credential; the route is a Training Support ticket.
  • Certifications last two years, the free accreditations one year or unstated, and only the Data Engineer Associate has a renewal exam.

Where your Databricks credentials actually live

The site at credentials.databricks.com runs on Accredible, the credentialing service Databricks uses: it is the Databricks Academy issuer page there, with 248 credentials in ten collections when we checked; a second issuer, devrel.databricks.com, holds community recognitions such as Databricks MVP. Our Databricks badges catalog explains each one.

Two Accredible rules do the damage. A wallet is "collections of credentials with the same email address," so an exam passed under a work address and a quiz passed under a personal one give you two wallets, and signing in "with an email address with no credentials attached to it" creates "a new, empty credential wallet," which the Databricks Help Center calls the most common reason a credential seems missing. For exam badges the address that counts is the Email field of your Webassessor profile, not the username. Course completion certificates are separate, downloaded from Databricks Academy under My Courses and Learning Plans, and there is no paper fallback: the certification FAQ says Databricks cannot mail certificates and the digital badge is the proof.

Whose credential is it? The certification terms grant the designation "only for Your personal use," say it "cannot be used to represent that a company or school is certified," and make the logo license nontransferable. No Databricks page says outright that a certification survives a change of employer, so we will not claim it; but the terms give it to you, not your firm.

Customer Academy vs Partner Academy accounts

Databricks runs three training portals: Customer Academy for customers and prospects, Partner Academy for "employees at system integrators and ISVs," and Microsoft Academy for Microsoft employees. The Help Center tells customers and partners alike to use a company email as the primary address; an existing customer can also register in Customer Academy with the AWS, Azure or GCP Databricks account, while Partner Academy takes a company email and a one-time code.

So a partner engineer's whole record sits under a work address: Academy history, Accredible wallet, usually the Webassessor profile too. The Partner Portal shows a certification only if the Partner Academy account is registered with your company email; for an exam taken under a personal address, the Help Center's fix is a secondary email in the Partner Academy profile, and one account only. A Databricks employee wrote on the Community forum in February 2026 that Academy and Community "now share the same SSO," so a primary-email change carries Community and Help Center access with it. No Databricks page describes switching from Partner Academy to Customer Academy; the Databricks Community team has pointed people who asked at the Training Support form.

What changes when you leave a partner

Databricks publishes nothing on when Partner Academy access ends after you leave. The mechanics are plain: the login is a one-time code sent to the company email, so when the inbox closes, the login does. Partner discounts go with it: the Help Center sends a Partner Certification Voucher only to an email on a partner domain. In exchange, the Advanced Learning Festival, Databricks' one dated public discount, excludes Partner Academy users and is open to Customer Academy users, so a personal Customer Academy account becomes your route to a 50% voucher. One more thing: the FAQ says you "will be notified in advance when your certification will expire," naming no channel; we assume the reminder goes to the credential's email. Dead inbox, no reminder.

Moving credentials to a personal email

Two mechanisms exist and only one moves anything. Accredible's Linked Emails shows credentials from two addresses in one wallet; its own help article says the function "is good for consolidating credentials, but for not updating the email addresses on your credentials," and Accredible "cannot delete secondary email addresses from credential wallets," so a link is permanent. Changing the address is the issuer's job: "The only way to update the email address attached to your credential is to ask your issuer," and Accredible "cannot alter or delete it." The issuer is Databricks.

  1. Copy the evidence while you can. Sign in to credentials.databricks.com with the work email and save each credential's URL or ID and PDF; the staff answer on the Community forum asks for "direct links or IDs for each badge/certification from Accredible."
  2. Open a Training Support ticket through the contact form the FAQ links. The Help Center lists the contents: full name, credential name, exam or completion date, the exam email and the one you want, and a screenshot of the pass result. The staff answer adds your name "exactly as it appears on your credentials," whether you still have access to the old email, and a request to move the Academy learning history too; an earlier staff reply says to state that you are "transitioning to a new company." No page states a response time.
  3. Do not rely on the Academy profile editor. A February 2025 Help Center article says you can change your own email in your Databricks Academy profile. Per Accredible that cannot touch credentials already issued, and every Databricks answer since routes moves through the ticket.
  4. Fix Webassessor before the next exam. Its Email field decides where the next badge lands, so set it to the personal address before you book, and do not open a second identity: the terms say registering under "a different name, with a different email address or any other means" to dodge the 14-day retake wait "will result in denied or revoked certification."
  5. Mind the festival voucher. Vouchers for the September 16 to October 14, 2026 festival go out on October 19 to the Customer Academy email, are "scoped to that email and can only be redeemed by it," and expire before January 17, 2027; a Webassessor account under another email can add the Academy email as a secondary address. June festival vouchers expire before October 6, 2026.
  6. Link as a fallback. If a credential cannot be moved, Accredible's linked email article gives the Linked Emails steps under Account Settings, Personal Information. It cannot be undone.

Fixing the name on a credential

Accredible has a self-service path: sign in, click MORE at the bottom of the credential view, choose Request a Name Change and type the name in both fields. A large change "will be sent to your issuer" to approve or deny; a typo is fixed automatically only if the issuer allows it; give the issuer three business days before you follow up. Whether Databricks has switched the option on is stated nowhere; the Databricks Community team, asked in November 2025, sent the person to a Training Support ticket instead, no login needed for the form.

Sharing and verification for a new employer

The credential view has two LinkedIn options: Share, a feed post, and, once signed in, Add to LinkedIn Profile, which fills LinkedIn's License and Certification form and links back to the credential view "where it can be verified." A new employer verifies by opening the credential URL and clicking Verify, which checks "that the credential is genuine and still valid," or through the opt-in Databricks Certified Directory, which you join from your credentials.databricks.com account and can leave at any time. The wallet can be set private or public under Settings, Privacy/Visibility.

How long each credential lasts and how to renew

Validity depends on the credential type, and Databricks' pages disagree on renewal. Our renewal helper does the dates, the credentials tab in your account keeps them, and exam prep covers the exams you would retake.

Knowledge badgesNot statedNot stated; free, unproctored, 10 to 25 questions, 80% to passFAQ, Badges section

All figures read on the Databricks pages on October 4, 2026. "Not stated" means no official page we found gives a value.

Two conflicts we will not average. The FAQ and all eight exam pages say you recertify by passing the current exam; the Data Engineer Associate renewal page adds "or take a renewal exam," the only one on the certification hub. And the current Fundamentals pages state no validity, while the legacy Lakehouse Platform Fundamentals page says one year and Databricks' certification team wrote on the Community forum in January 2024 that renewing an expiring fundamentals badge means taking "the course / assessment again." Read the credential itself.

Expiry itself is Accredible's business. Its live help article says the credential "will still be visible, however, a warning will appear below the credential stating to any viewer that the credential has expired," the PDF carries an expiry stamp, and a retake issues "a brand new credential" while the old one stays expired; whether a Databricks renewal issues a new badge or extends the old one is not stated. When Databricks retired the Professional Data Scientist exam it said issued certifications would remain valid for the standard period; it has not said this for every retired exam.

Before your last day

  1. Sign in to credentials.databricks.com with the work email; copy every credential URL or ID and download each PDF.
  2. Download course completion certificates from Databricks Academy, My Courses and Learning Plans.
  3. File the Training Support ticket, with the details above, while the old inbox still works.
  4. Set the Email field of your Webassessor profile to the personal address. One account only.
  5. Festival pathway finished? Put the Customer Academy email on your Webassessor account before you redeem, and spend the voucher before January 17, 2027.
  6. Write down each award date: two years for certifications, one for Platform Architect and Platform Administrator. The renewal helper does the arithmetic; your credentials tab keeps the list.
  7. Add each credential to LinkedIn with Add to LinkedIn Profile so the verification link survives.
  8. Next employer a partner? Register in Partner Academy with the new company email and add your exam email as a secondary address.
  9. Open a Customer Academy account under your personal email; the festival discounts live there, and the certifications catalog shows which exam to renew first.
